Fort Harrison State Park

The REN Foundation's Jazz for the Health of It program
in collaboration with the Indiana Arts Commission's Art In the Park program is pleased to announce it's first joint community awareness event:
"1940's Era USO Show" - complete with Big Band, Singers, and Dancers.
Where: Fort Harrison State Park
Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
6000 Post Road Indianapolis.
USO 75th Anniversary
This musical and historic event will be held to honor of the 75th anniversary of the USO, and will include a 1940’s style ‘big band,’ as well as 40’s era singers and dancers. This multi-act historical tribute celebrates the countless military men and women the USO has entertained in wartime, as well as 40’s era jazz, a powerful, uniquely American musical genre.
The United Service Organizations (USO) uses entertainment as a means to strengthen military members, keeping them connected to family, home and country during their service to the nation. To American values, strength and commitment, entertainers were sent to combat zones, often in dangerous areas, to perform for the troops.
Our event location: Rich history and expansive, breathtaking landscapes of Fort Harrison Park provide the perfect backdrop for the multi-act camp music show.
The park served as Citizens Military Training Camp and Civilian Conservation Corps Headquarters.
We hope to see you June 4 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. This event will also be kid friendly, and a good history lesson, too. So bring your own cooler with refreshments to enjoy the show.
The REN (Real Empowerment Now) Foundation is a non-profit dedicated to empowering people - adults and children both - to live more fulfilling lives through artistry, health and humanity.
